Heavy rain barreled down on Beijing from Friday to Saturday, with flooded streets causing traffic disruptions. The capital city cooled down from months of summer heat as the temperature dropped below 22 degrees Celsius, even the lowest at 14 degrees Celsius.
Rainfall will sweep across areas of central and east China through next Monday, the National Meteorological Center said in its forecast on Saturday.
The meteorological authorities suggested wearing more clothes and warned local authorities to monitor conditions and take precautions against waterlogging, landslides and other disasters.
As rainfall weakens, the center has removed the blue alert issued Friday for heavy rain in north China and provinces along the Yangtze River.
