IQAir, a Swiss-based company that specializes in technology solutions that help protect people from airborne pollutants, launched its latest product, IQAir Atem, on Saturday at the Beijing Yansha Friendship Shopping Mall.

The circle-shaped air purifier sets out to give more people in more places access to clean air than with existing air purification products.

The company says it solves a few fundamental problems with existing air purification solutions. Namely, facial masks can help to protect from much outdoor air pollution, but do not provide comfort and practicality for indoors use for prolonged periods of time.

“It is time that we did need an air purifier that is so compact, that you could place it on your office desk, put it in your suitcase and use it in your hotel room, or give it to your child to use at school,” says Frank Hammes, CEO of IQAir.

The IQAir official website says that Atem is a revolutionary product in air purification as it is one of the most effective personal air purifiers across the globe.

The PureJet diffuser is one of the shining points of the product. According to Hammes, it was designed by one senior engineer who has over 40 years of experience in the field of fluid dynamics. The diffuser can remove any remaining air turbulence and guides a gentle flow of air to the user’s breathing zone.

The goal of the diffuser is to deliver clean air from the Atem with minimal mixing with the surrounding room air and allow the user to breathe as much of the clean air from the Atem as possible.

Established in 1963, when German brothers Manfred and Klaus Hammes introduced an air filter system for residential coal ovens in Germany, IQAir has been expanded to over 100 countries around the world.

In 1998, IQAir sold its first products in China when air pollution was not yet recognized to be the public health threat that it is. Today, IQAir has more regional offices and employees in China than any other international counterparts, with an aim to helping individual and corporate customers throughout China breathe the best air possible.
