A pair of red shoes – whether sneakers, ballet pumps, ankle boots or even a bold set of knee-high boots -- is a must-have for every woman's wardrobe.

For most Chinese brides, red shoes should also be worn on their big day.

As women’s feet are connected with sex, red shoes often highlight this aspect and convey a special feminine beauty.

In the classic Chinese novel Jin Ping Mei (The Plum in the Golden Vase), there are some erotic descriptions of a woman seducing the protagonist Ximen Qing in red silk shoes.

If you wear all dark tones in cold seasons, a pair of red shoes can elevate your ensemble to a higher level. They can also be paired with different shades of red, giving the wearer a lively and festive look.

Since red will still be a beloved color for designers, red shoes also have become a choice for many supermodels and fashion bloggers. If you are also a fan of this vibrant tone, consider wearing a pair for the coming Chinese Lunar New Year.
