Digital China Summit to kick off in Fuzhou

The first Digital China Summit will be held in Fuzhou of southeastern China's Fujian province from Apr 22 to 24, as part of China's larger efforts to further integrate the digital economy with the real economy.

The summit will be hosted by the Cyberspace Administration of China, National Development and Reform Commission, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and Fujian provincial government.

Zhuang Rongwen, deputy head of the Cyberspace Administration of China, said the summit would be part of China's larger efforts to boost the development of the digital economy.

"The event would serve as a platform to publish information development policies, showcase the latest achievements as well as share experiences and practices of digital China construction," Zhuang added.

With a key focus on the construction of digital China, a main forum and several sub-forums are planned during the event covering topics related to e-government, digital economy, smart society, new smart cities, big data, digital Fujian, the digital Maritime Silk Road and the internet of things.

The latest achievements on e-government and digital economy will be displayed in the exhibition held during the event, such as face recognition and voice recognition technologies.

Currently, Tencent Holdings Ltd, Huawei Technologies Co Ltd, ZTE Corp, Iflytek Co Ltd and other leading tech and digital-related companies have registered for the exhibition.

During the summit, the Report on Digital China Construction and Development 2017 will be released. And the event will also include a promotional event that will highlight 30 cases of the best e-governance practices selected from 147 examples across the whole country.
