Honor, a brand created by Huawei Technologies Co Ltd to target young consumers, unveiled its first laptop on Thursday, making it the latest smartphone vendor to enter the personal computer sector.

MagicBook, as the new device is called, can provide up to 12 hours' work time on a single charge. Priced from 4,999 yuan ($796) in China, it comes with 14-inch anti-glare display and a screen-to-body ratio of 81 percent.

Zhao Ming, president of Honor, said the company is designing MagicBook with the philosophy and attitude of a mobile smartphone.

"It is meant to be trendy and offer powerful performance, smart experience and reliable quality, just what our smartphones have delivered to consumers," Zhao said.

Previously, Honor's arch rival Xiaomi Corp unveiled a laptop to cater to the demands of college students and young professionals. The move comes as China's PC market gains growth momentum.

On Thursday, the company also unveiled its new flagship smartphone Honor 10, which boasts a glass chassis that can show different colors when viewed from different angles.

Priced from 2,599 yuan, the device is designed to help Honor explore overseas markets. Honor said in December it aims to become one of the world's top five smartphone brands in three years, after gaining wide popularity among young Chinese consumers.

The company aims to increase the contribution of Honor's overseas revenue to total revenue from 15 percent in 2017 to 50 percent by 2020.

Honor 10 also comes with artificial-intelligence-enabled 24-million-pixel cameras.
