How foreigners view China's soccer development

I'm commenting as a South African. From primary school parents and teachers expect each student to participate in some kind of sport, especially athletics, rugby, cricket etc., and schools compete every weekend against each other. Unfortunately I don't see school sport events like this in China. I'm not sure why this is the case, maybe the Chinese concentrate more on education.
