Professional home organizers who help people keep their homes orderly are becoming popular in China’s big cities.

Cao Hongli, an organizer in Nanjing, East China’s Jiangsu province, said she is welcomed by many families — though the price she works for is not low.

“It’s common for organizers to organize a wardrobe for 3 hours and an apartment for days,” she said. “It’s not simply sorting out things and putting them in the right places. It’s more about cleaning the space, going through everything and giving proper advice on future organization.”

It costs about 500 yuan ($72) for an organizer to clean a square meter. The price can be reduced to about 90 yuan per square meter if the whole house or apartment is organized.

“Some colleagues learned from professional organizers in Japan,” Cao said. “I always like organizing things and putting them in the right places. It’s good to make a living doing things you like.”
