KIEV - Ukraine will receive 54 million euros ($61.2 million) from the European Union (EU) for boosting its energy efficiency, the Ukrainian government said on Monday.

The funds will be directed to the Energy Efficiency Fund (EEF) and distributed among condominium associations for implementing energy saving projects, the government said in a statement posted on its website.

Part of the money will be used for the preparation of energy auditors, who will work in all regions of Ukraine, it said.

In 2017, Ukraine established the EEF, the money from which are used mostly for improving the heat insulation of residential buildings.

In June 2018, the East European country received 50 million euros ($56.7 million) from the EU to support the fund. This year, Ukraine has allocated $57.5 million from its budget to finance the EEF.
