UK's interim head says 'strong team spirit' behind PM Boris Johnson

Britain's Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab, now deputizing for the nation's prime minister who is in intensive care with worsening novel coronavirus symptoms, said he will drive "forward the government's plan to defeat coronavirus", where necessary.

Speaking to the BBC following news that Boris Johnson has been moved to intensive care in a London hospital on Monday, Raab said there is an "incredibly strong team spirit" behind the prime minister.

He said the focus will be on making sure the "prime minister's direction and all the plans for making sure we can defeat coronavirus and pull the country through this challenge will be taken forward".

Raab also said that Johnson is in safe hands at St Thomas's Hospital and is receiving excellent care.

He thanked all NHS staff across the country for their dedication and hard work during the outbreak.
