A book of discourses of Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, on respecting and safeguarding human rights has been published by the Central Party Literature Press.

The book, compiled by the Institute of Party History and Literature of the CPC Central Committee, contains 335 pieces of Xi's discourses on this topic, selected from more than 160 of his articles, speeches, instructions and congratulatory messages from Nov 15, 2012, to Oct 30, 2021, a statement on the publication said on Tuesday.

Some of them were being published for the first time, the statement said. The book has become available nationwide.

Ever since its founding, the CPC has made it a goal to strive for the happiness of the people and progress for humanity, the statement said.

Over the past seven decades and more, China has adhered to the fundamental principle of human rights and combining it with the Chinese context, thus blazing a path of human rights development that suits its actual national conditions, it added.

Xi's discourses will have great relevance to ensuring that the Chinese people enjoy greater human rights, building China into a modern socialist country in all respects and realizing the Chinese dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, the statement said.

The discourses will also contribute to promoting global human rights governance that is fairer, more equitable and inclusive, and to advancing the building of a community with a shared future for mankind, it said.
