Xizang's postal industry reflects resilience and positive future

The postal management industry in the Xizang autonomous region achieved good results in 2023, with express courier firms all over the region handling 191 million parcels and raking in 1.01 billion yuan ($26.8 million) in revenue, marking a rise of 7.9 percent and 36.33 percent year-on-year, respectively, as shown by data recently released by the Postal Administration of Xizang Autonomous Region.

Among the figures for 2023, the express delivery volume was 22 million items, and the business revenue was 609 million yuan, with an increase of 79.78 percent and 35.85 percent year-on-year, respectively.

According to the administration, in 2023, thanks to the region's postal express networks, agricultural and local specialties valued at least 2.17 billion yuan have been sent out or delivered, effectively increasing the income and wealth of rural residents.

The latest statistics from the administration reflect that, as of now, the region has 754 universal postal service outlets, 4,641 village-based postal stations, and 657 express service outlets, achieving full coverage of postal and express delivery services.

In 2024, the region's mail and express delivery sectors expect to achieve a mail and express delivery volume of 202 million items and a business revenue of 1.07 billion yuan, according to the region's postal administration.

In 2024, the region's express delivery volume is forecasted to reach 24 million items, with a business revenue of 6.57 billion yuan, hoping for an approximate 8 percent increase.

This growth demonstrates the industry's resilience and recovery capabilities, setting a positive tone for the year ahead.
