8,406 suggestions from national lawmakers forwarded for review
All 8,406 suggestions from national lawmakers during the recently concluded session of China's top legislature have been forwarded to 206 departments for further review and action, Xinhua News Agency reported Thursday.
The suggestions were submitted by deputies to the fourth session of the 14th National People's Congress, which was held in Beijing from Mar 5 to 12.
A thorough analysis of the suggestions highlighted recurring issues such as boosting digital economic development, tackling excessive competition, preserving and promoting traditional culture, establishing a diverse support system, enhancing the quality of the education system, and advancing the green and low-carbon transformation of the industrial structure.
Submitting motions and suggestions is a key responsibility of NPC deputies. In general, a motion is a formal request for the NPC to review and decide on a matter, whereas a suggestion is an opinion or recommendation directed to relevant departments to help enhance their work and address sector-specific challenges.
