A Brazilian official said Chinese high-speed railway technology is competitive in the bid for a project in Brazil.
"China has the largest high-speed railway network in the world. Its distance will reach 45,000 km in the next 15 years," said Hélio Mauro Frana, executive director of the high-speed railway project at Agência Nacional de Transportes Terrestres Brazil, according to the 21st Century Business Herald.

China Railway Construction Corporation will team up with several other Chinese firms to bid, the Chinese-language newspaper reported on Tuesday.
Since the tender bid was announced in July, the Brazilian official has contacted all the manufacturers and providers from each contending countries.
Companies from France, Spain, Japan and South Korea have expressed interest in bidding for the project, the report said.
The Brazilian government announced its tender document for the 513-km high-speed link between Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo in July and the bidding will open on April 29. It is the first high-speed railway project in South America.
Li Xuerong, researcher at CIConsulting, told the paper that although Japan and Germany excel in high-speed technology, China's cost efficiency is the core advantage for its overseas expansion, as its high-speed rail products cost 30 percent less than its competitors.
