China faces quickening imported inflation and some firms are suffering "great losses" from rising prices for raw materials, China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology said on Wednesday.

At a press briefing, the ministry also said the world economy faces an uncertain outlook owing to the unrest in the Middle East and Japan's earthquake, tsunami and nuclear disasters.
