BEIJING -- The Chinese mainland and Taiwan will hold the eighth forum on information technology (IT) and standards for the sector in Taipei on June 17 and 18, a State Council Taiwan Affairs Office spokeswoman announced here Wednesday.
Among the 10 topics to be discussed at the forum are the mainland's home-grown next-generation telecommunication technology, known as the TD-LTE, and light emitting diodes (LEDs), Fan Liqing said.
The mainland delegation, composed of entrepreneurs, professionals and scholars, will be headed by Xi Guohua, vice-minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, but Xi's visit is non-official, she said.
The forum, which has been held since 2005, is sponsored by the mainland-based China Communications Standards Association, the China Electronics Standardization Association and the Taiwan-based SINOCON Industrial Standards Foundation.
Taiwan-invested companies have become an important part of the mainland's IT industry. There are more than 3,300 Taiwan electronics and IT enterprises on the mainland, according to the State Council's Taiwan Affairs Office.
