Nearly 16% of digital cameras below standards

A report by the China Electronic Chamber of Commerce (CECC) Sunday said that among the 14 tested brands' 34 products, 15.9 percent of the products' function terms were below industrial standards, Jinghua Times reported Monday. Problems were mostly occurred in white balance, exposure and flashlight function.

Lu Renbo, the deputy secretary-general of the CECC, said China hasn't set up national standards for digital cameras, and industrial standards are not compulsory. Therefore, quality disputes are usually settled according to the manufacturers' standards. The government should enhance the supervision on the products' standards to protect the consumers' rights, he said.
