China follows debt crisis in EU closely: FM

BEIJING - Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi said Monday that China has been following the sovereign debt crisis in some European countries and has bought treasury bonds from relevant countries.

China has also helped advance the EU integration process, Yang said.

"We believe the steps taken by China have been well received by the countries and people in Europe, particularly by those governments and people," he said.

Yang made the remarks at a press conference on the sidelines of the annual session of the National People's Congress, the country's top legislature.
