The number of rail passenger trips during this summer's travel season, which starts on July 1 and lasts until August 31, will be 41.27 million more than a year earlier, or an increase of 12.7 percent year-on-year, MOR said in a statement on its website.

On a daily basis, the country's railway system will transport an average of 5.89 million people per day.

The railway system's passenger transportation capability is expected to increase by 9.6 percent after a rescheduling of train journeys nationwide is implemented on July 1.

Most railway passengers this summer will be tourists, while students returning home for their summer vacation will also put pressure on passenger flow, said MOR.
