Ground collapses under mined N China village

Rubble buries a house in Pangpangta village, Lvliang city, North China's Shanxi province, Aug 15, 2011. Due to long-term exploitation by a local coal mining company, the village suffered a massive house collapse this summer and people were forced to move into cave dwellings that have been deserted for over ten years. About 60 makeshift houses have been built near the village by the mining company and local government. But villagers worry they are still in danger living within the mined-out area. [Photo/CFP]
