Modest maths whizz keeps young mind at 92

Wu Wenjun, a 92-year-old mathematician and academician of the Chinese Academy of Social Science, ponders on August 16, 2011. Along with famous scientists Hua Luogeng and Qian Xuesen, he won the first National Natural Science Award in 1956. He was also the winner of the first State Supreme Science and Technology Award in 2001. With almost an entire lifetime devoted to maths, the senior academician remarks with modesty, “A lot of issues still remain unclear to me, and I will have to continue to pursue my career.” [Photo/Xinhua]
