Ancient-style ceremony held for new pupils

First grade pupils bow in thanks to teachers during an enlightening ceremony marking their first writing class and the start of their first semester at Hehuazhuang Primary School in Ningbo city, East China's Zhejiang province, August 28, 2011. During the ceremony entitled "Write the word of ‘person', learn how to be a upright person", all 135 new pupils wore an ancient-style school uniform, offered a sacrifice to Confucius - the ancient wise philosopher, wrote the word o"human", read the classics, and bowed to teachers. The ceremony was held in a bid to expose the children to classic culture and help them understand the principles of how to behave and study. [Photo/CFP]
