About 80 writers will soon be enjoying the fruits of their success as a Chinese publisher pays out more than 1 million yuan ($156,700) in royalties for digitally reproduced works.

It is the largest amount a traditional publisher in China has ever paid in digital royalties, Beijing Business Today reported.

China Writers Publishing House sold about 300 works to the digital reading subsidiary of China Mobile last year, which made the works available to its customers. The publishing house earned 2 million yuan and half of which must go to the writers.

One writer will be paid more than 100,000 yuan, 43 will get more than 10,000 yuan and five will get more than 30,000 yuan.
