CAIRO -- Chinese special envoy to Middle East Wu Sike held talks with Egyptian Foreign Minister Mohammed Amr on Monday, voicing China's willingness to further ties with Egypt.

Wu conveyed to Amr greetings and congratulations from Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi.

He hailed the bilateral ties between China and Egypt, saying their strategic cooperative relationship would continue to develop despite changes in Egypt and the Middle East.

China attaches great importance to its coordination and cooperation with Egypt on the Middle East issues and is happy to see the historic changes in Egypt, Wu said.

The two sides also exchanged views on the Palestinian issues. According to Wu, the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital and with full sovereignty not only is the expectation of the Palestinian people, but also will conduce to the regional and world peace and stability.
