NANNING - Seven people were killed and at least 23 others injured in two road accidents in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Thursday, local authorities said.
A car rear-ended a coach on a state-level road in Xiangzhou County at 8 pm, killing four people and injuring another three, the regional police authorities said in a statement.
The injured are not in life-threatening conditions, it said.
In a separate accident at around 2:40 am, three people died and more than 20 were injured when a coach overturned on an expressway linking the regional capital of Nanning with Beihai city, a major tourist destination, said a spokesman with Beihai's fire brigade who helped rescue the injured passengers.
The 30 passengers aboard the coach were traveling in a package tour group from Hainan Province to Beihai. Some were from Qinghai Province and Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in the northwest, while others were from the northeastern provinces of Heilongjiang, Jilin and Liaoning, the spokesman said.
He did not identify the dead.
The cause of the accident is under investigation.
