JIXIAN, Heilongjiang - Six people have been confirmed dead and two injured after an office building collapsed Monday in Northeast China's Heilongjiang province, rescuers said.
The accident happened at about 7:50 am when the eastern wing of a four-story office building undergoing renovation suddenly fell apart, buring at least eight people. The seven-year-old building is owned by Jixian County Water Company in the city of Shuangyashan.
The two wounded people are receiving treatment at a local hospital and their injuries are not life-threatening.
The rescue and search work has basically come to an end and the cause of the accident is under probe.
