War horse still hot to trot

A villager unloads tree trunks from a horse in Naqi Village of Shangsi County in South China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region in this photo taken on April 17, 2012. Working horses, regarded as out of date in modern society, are still in operation to keep remote and mountainous villages linked to the outside world. The village, lying at an average of 1,000 meters above sea-level, uses horses to transport its products like pine gum and wood. The horse caravan, which originated during the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression (1937-1945), used to transport war materials from the local revolutionary base in the village.
