A Tibetan monk joins armed police in building a livestock farm for residents affected by two earthquakes at a village in Tibetan autonomous prefecture of Deqen, Yunnan province, Sept 3, 2013. A 5.1-magnitude earthquake and a 5.9-magnitude quake hit the prefecture on August 28 and 31, killing three people and damaging many houses as well as at least 45 religious sites. Rescuers built temporary shelters for people affected by the quake at first, but found they kept returning to feed livestock in their dangerous houses damaged by the quake. About 50 armed police and local residents worked to build a collective livestock farm within one day. [Photo/icpress] |
