China's biggest low-cost carrier, Spring Airlines, teamed up with Shengda Games to launche an anime-themed flight from Shanghai to Osaka, Japan, on July 18, 2014.
During the two-hour trip, flight crew members posed in costumes to offer a series of interactive entertainment activities.
However, the highlight featured an anime musical carnival, in which video-gaming enthusiasts performed music from the videogame Final Fantasy XIV.
Spring Airlines said the anime-themed flight will keep running in the future to attract young consumers. The airline also plans to launch "moon-viewing" flights during the traditional Chinese Moon Festival and flights that have blind-dating services.
