A second batch of Chinese peacekeepers is ready for deployment on UN missions in Mali after completing an intensive training program, China News Service reported on Monday.

The 395 officers and soldiers, who include engineers, security guards and medics, have been training since July.

The UN Security Council last year approved a resolution to establish a peacekeeping area in Mali.

The first group of Chinese peacekeepers was engaged in building and maintaining military infrastructure, security duties, providing medical treatment and epidemic prevention. The second group will take over these duties.
