China will further strengthen quality research, quality risk management and quality personnel training to promote the level of quality development in the western region and the whole country.
As part of the effort, Xian Jiaotong University's China West Region Quality Science and Technology Research Institute was officially launched on Saturday in Xi'an, the capital of Shaanxi province.
Mei Kebao, deputy director of General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, said at the launch ceremony that the institute's establishment will greatly promote the quality level in the western region, with 72 percent of the national land area concentrated on equipment manufacturing and the aerospace, energy, and chemistry industries, as well as the military and defense.
Established by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, Shaanxi Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision and Xi'an Jiaotong University, the institute will be dedicated to quality scientific and technological research, solving the problems of quality risk monitoring and training of new high-level quality talent, Mei said.
Wang Lixia, deputy governor of Shaanxi province, said that the institute was an important achievement made with close cooperation between the State quality administration, the university and the provincial government for the development of quality.
"I believe that the institute will provide important basic support and a service guarantee for economic development in Shaanxi province," Wang said.
Wang Shuguo, president of Xi'an Jiaotong University, said that the State administration's cooperation with his university to build a quality research institute is an effective way to further upgrade quality management and ability, and a major initiative to promote national economic development in a more healthy way.
