One of the two dead sperm whales, found stranded on a beach near Rudong county, Nantong city in East China's Jiangsu province on Monday afternoon, was salvaged on Tuesday morning, according to Xinhua.

The salvaged adult male whale, weighing more than 25 tons and around 16 meters long, will be dissected by experts later, according to the report. The other whale will be salvaged after another high tide.

Sperm whales, which live in unfrozen waters worldwide, are an endangered species. Nantong Museum will make specimens of the whales.
