A paralyzed student in Jiaozuo city, Central China's Henan province who made headlines previously for moving a bed into the classroom has been admitted to one of China's prestigious universities.

Zhu Zhiqiang, with an impressive high score of 635 on the gaokao (the national college entrance exam), proudly showed his admission letter and said he is going to major in math.

Zhu started to have spinal problems when he was a little boy. His mother has had to carry him on her back since Zhu was four, and she has kept doing so over the past 14 years.

As Zhu's problem progressed, his doctors suggested he quit school because he could not sit long.

Zhu refused. When he went to the high school, he moved a bed into the classroom with the school’s permission so he could lie on it while attending classes and doing his homework.
