People in Taiyuan city in North China's Shanxi province will soon be able to go back in time, with efforts to rebuild a county to resemble what it would have been like in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644AD) well underway.
The Taiyuan county, founded in 1375, is located in Jinyuan district, Taiyuan city. The county was listed as a national-level historical and cultural block in 2011.
The local government decided to revive the ancient county in 2012. Local residents were planned to be moved to other parts of the city, to allow the preservation work to go ahead.
