Dance with the best

Beijing-based modern dance troupe, LDTX, will perform at Ullens Center for Contemporary Art (UCCA) this weekend. Founded in 2005, LDTX is known for its creative and improvisational modern dance. The troupe's founder, Hong Lin, who is famous for her choreography, such as Red Tangerines and Wind in the Woods, will show visitors how to dance, no experience required.

Ode to Mahler

The China Philharmonic Orchestra will present a concert on Saturday to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the death of Gustav Mahler (1860-1911). Under the baton of young conductor Xia Xiaotang, the orchestra will perform Wagner's Faust Overture for orchestra in D Minor, WWV 59, Prokofiev's Piano Concerto No 3 in C Major Op 26 and Mahler's The Youth's Magic Horn. The concert will be led by pianist Wang Yujia.

Time for watches

Swiss watchmaker Blancpain is showcasing its latest Villeret collection at Shin Kong Place. The nine watches exhibited made their debuts in Baselworld in March.

The highlight is the Chronographe Monopoussoir Quantieme Complet, featuring 450 components and 35 jewels.

The exhibition will tour China afterward.

Romeo and Juliet, Scots-style

Ballet West from Scotland will perform Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare's enduring tale of passion, murder and tragedy in medieval Verona. Ballet West is an established ballet company that uses a mix of professional dancers, along with students in the final stages of their dance training. The principal roles of the star-crossed lovers will be danced by brother and sister team Sara-Maria and Jonathan Barton.

A new look at life

Bestue Vives, an art group from Spain, will present The Human of the Future. Body painted models will present different aspects of human life, including birth, reproduction and social interaction in its trademark humorous satirical style.
