Nanjing displays portraits of Churchill, Bergman, Einstein

[Photo by Sun Zhongnan/asianewsphoto.com ] An exhibition of photographer Yousuf Karsh’s portraitures is underway at the Jiangning Imperial Silk Manufacturing Museum in Nanjing, Jiangsu province. On display are over 120 portraits, including those of Winston Churchill, Fidel Castro, Ernest Hemingway, Ingrid Bergman and Albert Einstein. The show will run through May 3. After the first stop in Nanjing, it will be held in four more cities around the country.

According to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Canadian portraitist is "one of the greatest portrait photographers of the twentieth century, (who) achieved a distinct style in his theatrical lighting."
