DETROIT  - Faith Hill is making "steady" progress toward her next album and plans to return to the studio in March for another round of recording. But don't expect to hear anything until it meets some pretty high standards.

"I would like to have a record out," Hill told Billboard.com, "but it hasn't been the right thing yet. I don't want it to be just another record. It's a lot of work to support a record, so I just want it to be... really great. I want it to represent where I am as a woman. I don't want it to be fake. I want it to be authentic and real."

Hill's last album of all new material, the double-platinum "Fireflies," debuted atop the Billboard 200 and Top Country Albums chart in 2005. She followed it with "The Hits" in 2007 and the holiday set "Joy to the World" in 2008.

Hill acknowledged that "the pendulum has shifted a bit in my priorities... since the birth of my children," and job number one now is raising her three daughters with Tim McGraw -- Gracie, 13, Maggie, 12, and Audrey, nine.

"It's changed how I do my business and everything," Hill explained. "I feel very blessed I'm able to stay home with my kids. My husband works really hard and I'm a wife and that's the path that I've chosen. The other things that I do really have to fit in around that. I've been working (on an album) for awhile, but it just takes a little bit longer. And that's okay."

With that in mind, Hill is tight-lipped regarding details about her recording sessions.

"I'm not even prepared to talk about it right now," she said. "I'm right in the middle of it, so it's really hard to describe what it is until I'm done. That's the honest truth. I'll be able to tell more, maybe once I come out of the studio in the spring."
