Mel B to give birth in same suite as Victoria

Mel B is going to give birth in the same delivery suite as her former Spice Girls bandmate Victoria Beckham.

The 36-year-old star is expecting a baby with her husband Stephen Belafonte and she has booked the same room at Los Angeles' Cedars-Sinai hospital where Victoria welcomed her daughter Harper Seven into the world in July.

In an interview with Britain's HELLO! magazine, Mel - who is due to give birth in just a matter of days - revealed: "I emailed Victoria to invite her to my baby shower, but she was busy. We email or tweet each other ... it's so now to do rather than just call ... We've got to have a proper big catch up. The funny thing is I'm giving birth in the same delivery suite at Cedars-Sinai hospital that Victoria had Harper in."

The reality TV star - who already has two daughters, Phoenix Chi, 12, and four-year-old Angel Iris from previous relationships, while Stephen has a seven-year-old daughter Giselle from a prior relationship - is also a fan of Victoria's choice of name for her newborn daughter.

She added; "I know someone with a daughter called Harper, so I was familiar with the name. I think it's lovely."

Mel will be joined in the delivery suite by Stephen and her daughters and she thinks it's important her children are involved in the birth of their new sibling.

However, she doesn't want either of her girls to see too much of what's going down at the business end.

The 'Say You'll Be There' singer - who does not know the sex of her baby - said: "I want both the girls to be there when the baby is born. I think it's important for them to experience it, although I'll make sure they're at the other end. Phoenix wants a brother, so I'm worried she'll say, 'Oh no!' if it's a girl ... Stephen is going to be a nightmare. He'll be panicking and will probably take us to the wrong hospital. The suite I'm having the baby in has an adjoining room, so he'll probably be in there passed out on the floor or asking the doctor for an epidural."
