Wang Zhongjun, chairman of the board of Huayi Brothers, and Wang Zhonglei, CEO of Huayi Brothers, along with nine Chinese directors, including Feng Xiaogang, Tsui Hark, Wing Shya, Tony Chan, Tom Lin, Wuershan, Stephen Fung, Doze Niu, Pang Ho-Cheung, attended the 2011 first press conference of the company and announced their "Plan H" strategy on Thursday, Feb 24 to launch ten films in Beijing.
Film producers Chen Kuo-Fu, Shi Nan-Sun, Bak-Ming Wong and Fruit Chan showed up at the event as well.
Wang Zhongjun gave full acknowledgement to every producer and director who worked with H.Brothers last year, as well as the press. He stated that it was a good and successful year for Chinese films in 2010, and that the company made box-office records - 1.7 billion RMB in total - since it had started to shoot films beginning last decade.
After showing the video of "Plan H", CEO Wang Zhonglei publicly announced to set up the plan for ten new films with 11 directors from the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong and Taiwan, and explained the reason of calling it "H." "H is the first letter of Huayi Brothers", he said, "and furthermore, we would like to add a more lively meaning in it with 'High Hope'".
"The 'Hope' is built in every solid film we produce, and is presented in the list of the ten new films, too," the CEO declared.
"Project Diversity" is the first element of the list. Romance, suspense, legends, epics and action films are all included among the ten film projects. Famous directors, such as Feng Xiaogang and Tsui Hark, and the young directors who are at their most creative period, showcase the "Diversity of Directors." Three film series or sequels will come out, which reflects the ongoing development of Chinese film industrialization.
