Musician and novice director Gao Xiaosong has done the crime and is making the most of his time after being locked up for six months on a DUI (drunk driving) charge.
"My case is not one of injustice, the crime I committed was stupid but harmed no one," he admitted earlier this week, in an interview that reveals the details of his prison life.
Gao says he accepts the punishment he so richly deserved and will not make the same mistake again. He regrets just two things, not seeing his daughter and the premiere of his film in September, My Kingdom, the first commercial movie he has directed.
Since being incarcerated, he says he has been reading Encyclopedia Britannica, something he had only planned to do after retiring. He has also started translating Memories of My Melancholy Whores by Gabriel Garcia Marquez and working on a collection of poems and a new film script.
As journalists we are often told to "follow the story" and here at Celebrity Sauce it is hard to ignore the ongoing shenanigans in the house of Cecilia Cheung and Nicholas Tse, who, loyal readers will be aware, are divorcing.
The acrimonious split reached new heights after the birthday party last week of one of their two sons, Lucas, now 4.
According to a number of Hong Kong media reports, Cheung is said to be performing voodoo-like rituals aimed at her soon-to-be-ex-husband, in the hope of gaining full custody of the children and recovering her reputation.
She is supposed to worship at the altar of 12 evil statues at her home and the buzz is that her prayers were answered when Tse came to Beijing this week to shoot a TV drama but had a high fever and acute asthma attack, necessitating the use of an oxygen machine to breathe.
Cheung's company has vehemently denied the voodoo rumors, adding it has issued lawyers' letters to two magazines for fabricating news, and TV hostess Eileen Cha for spreading lies about Cheung.
We were enjoying the AC Milan celebrations on Saturday after it had beaten Inter Milan 2-1 in the Italian Super Cup at the Bird's Nest stadium in Beijing, when we were bemused at the antics of AC Milan player Pato.
The Brazilian clearly made a "slant-eyed" gesture at the cameras by pulling at the corners of his eyes. While Alexandre Rodrigues da Silva, to give Pato his full name, no doubt did not intend to cause offense and was caught up in the moment, it was obviously a racist and stupid thing to do.
Apparently, it is quite a common thing for South Americans in general to do and the Argentinean Carlos Tevez has been photographed doing it too, while in Manchester United colors.
Doing it in front of a packed Bird's Nest full of Chinese, on national, nay international TV, however, does rather take the biscuit.
On the other hand, Kevin Prince Boateng's impressive kungfu kick to celebrate his winning goal was appreciated by the home crowd.
