Guo Meimei is set on a showbiz career despite a chorus of disapproval that appears to show she would be better off developing her charity work.

The 20-year-old's only previous experience of celebrity life caused a stir by flaunting her wealth while claiming she held a senior position at the Red Cross Society of China.

This didn't go down well, as she was pretty much universally criticized for being a self-serving liar. Undeterred, earlier this week, she confirmed she would be taking on acting work.

"From now on I will concentrate on work and hope to pay back society one day with my talent," she posted on her micro blog,

Netizens replied, in the main, by asking what talent she could possibly be referring to, if it wasn't lying and showing off.

From aspiring to aspired, the country's leading actresses, Zhou Xun and Vicki Zhao, have been battling over primacy and who should be paid more.

The pair was quite friendly when shooting 2008's Painted Skin but have clashed for the sequel. At issue were reports that Zhao has been paid 4.5 million yuan ($704,304), 1.5 million more than Zhou.

Zhou's manager claimed Zhao boasted about the financial arrangement. Zhao responded by telling the world on her hyper popular website that "she hates someone to death".

Cut and fade to a dressing room scene on the set of their movie, where Zhao kicks Zhou's chair, Zhou responds by kicking Zhao's chair, followed by a no-holds barred battle between the two, who have to be pulled apart by the film crew.

It must have been quite a scene, what with all that hot air and fur flying.

Cathay Pacific has been dealing with some major public relations fallout after one of its flight attendants was photographed in the cockpit pleasing her pilot lover and showing off her crown jewels.

At the same time as the pics went viral, the company was about to go global with its new advertising line: "Meet the team who go the extra mile to make you feel special."

While Cathay Pacific's chief executive, John Slosar, insisted there was "no evidence" to suggest the incidents happened while airborne, he admitted to the BBC there had been significant fallout.

"I find any behavior that recklessly soils the reputation of our company or our team members as totally unacceptable."

Wisely, it would seem, the airline has delayed rolling out the advert and disciplined the pair of miscreants, "who are no longer at the company".

Hong Kong's Civil Aviation Department will also investigate the incidents.

Finally, on a more modest note, Twins singer Charlene Choi says she will not be revealing as much cleavage as Joey Yung, in her recent Guangzhou concert.

The Hong Kong singer, Choi, said her hips were her best assets and she would be flaunting these at the upcoming Shanghai concert instead, Sina reported.
