TNT theater is touring China with its version of Shakespeare's Midsummer Night's Dream. Provided to China Daily

Lunatics, lovers and poets unite in Beijing

TNT theater was founded in 1980 in Britain and since has established itself as one of the most popular international touring theater companies in the world. Last season alone the company produced seven productions in almost 30 countries.

The troupe has enjoyed China tours in the past and has built up quite a following. Its 2011 China tour kicks off in Beijing with one of Shakespeare's most popular plays, A Midsummer Night's Dream. A spokesperson for the company says it is a perfect mix of comedy and romance, combining the "lunatic, the lover and the poet" in a magical world.

"This production is a celebration of a marriage and remains a timeless exploration of love in all its wonder and foolishness."

TNT's first performances on the Chinese mainland were staged in November 2005 when Macbeth was presented in Shanghai at the Dramatic Arts Centre. In March 2007 TNT toured Beijing, Shanghai and Hangzhou with Oliver Twist.

Date: Oct 21-22
