SHENZHEN, South China - Philippe Troussier's Shenzhen Ruby suffered a home defeat 1-0 to Shanxi in the second round of the Chinese Super League (CSL) on Sunday night.

The Frenchman's side, which placed 12th in last season's Chinese championship with only two points more than two delegated teams, has dropped to the bottom of the league after losing both matches and scoring none.

"I have to bear the blame for the lineup and formation," the 56-year-old said.

The defeat was frustrating for a home crowd of over 20,000.

Troussier said the target for the team in this season would be among the top six when he took the charge of the team in February, but it seemed as a mirage according to their position in the table.

"It will be a long season that has only started. We had a hasty preparation without any warm-up games before the league," Troussier admitted.

"But we will make changes. I think we will keep improving in the future," He said.

Troussier, known as the "White Witch Doctor", took over as the Shenzhen Ruby coach in February. He used to coach several national teams with South Africa, Nigeria and Japan. He guided the Japanese to make the round of 16 at the 2002 World Cup.
