Golf Open Championships to be held in Yangon

YANGON - Junior golfers will feature in the 16th Myanmar Golf Club (MGC) Junior Golf Open Championships to be held at MGC in Yangon aimed at seeking young generation for future events, sports circle said Monday.
Sponsored by Myanmar Golf Federation (MGF) the championships from May 5 to 6 are divided into four classes - age 10-12, age 13- 15 and age 16-20 in boy's event and age 10-18 in girl's event.
Experienced young golfers will be selected for this event within a couple of days, the sources said, adding that handsome prizes will be awarded to winners.
Meanwhile, the first-ever floating golf field, which covers an area of 50,625 hectares at the bank of Inya Lake in Yangon, will be launched near the end of this month.
The golf field started building in December last year.
Myanmar has participated not only in the international golf championship but also in local events.
