Shenzhen’s unique theme parks offer a visitor instant access to a world of wonders
Bustling Shenzhen is famous for being one of the nation's best examples of modernization and over the past three decades has evolved into an exciting international city. In 1980, this former fishing village was nominated as a special economic zone within Guangdong Province, and has grown to become a thriving metropolis of more than 10 million.
Its new status became a test base for China's reform and opening up policy, allowing for fast development and links to the outside world.
With its strategic coastal location, robust economy and ambitious population, Shenzhen has become a dream destination for many enterprising people as well as a popular gateway into the mainland.
It also has a collection of some of the world's most interesting theme parks, which are symbolic of the city's global focus.
Window of the World, Splendid China and China Folk Village are special scenic area theme parks containing the very best sights from all across the world and the Middle Kingdom. At Window of the World, gaze up at the Eiffel Tower, wander the ruins of the Acropolis, and the pyramids, and stroll through the grounds of the Taj Mahal.
Apart from these artificial sights, Shenzhen is endowed with its own natural wonders including lofty mountains, relaxing beaches, and a grand botanical gardens.
The city is also a hot spot for recreation with some of China's best golf courses and its vibrant nightlife ensures its reputation as a city that never sleeps.
