US Congresswoman Grace Meng of New York announced on Monday that eight students from the borough of Queens have been accepted to US service academies after she nominated them to attend the prestigious institutions. The academies consist of the US Military Academy at West Point, New York; US Naval Academy at Annapolis, Maryland; US Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs, Colorado; US Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, New York; and the US Coast Guard Academy at New London, Connecticut. A ninth student also has been accepted to the Air Force Academy Prep School. All will begin attending the academies later this month after they graduate from area high schools or other educational institutions.
