PYONGYANG - The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK)'s official news agency, KCNA, claims joint military exercises to be held by South Korea and the US "challenge" the international community's wish for peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula.

According to an article published Thursday, dialogue and negotiations between the DPRK and South Korea were blocked every time US-South Korea combined exercises were held. And the actions cast doubt on their declarations of wanting "reconciliation" and "dialogue."

The article urged South Korea and the US to cancel the plan immediately and show their sincerity for the settlement of the issues on the peninsula.

The exercises, named "Key Resolution" and "Condor," reportedly will be held from late February to mid-March.
