OTTAWA - Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper and his wife will attend the marriage ceremony of British Prince William and Miss Catherine Middleton on April 29 at Westminster Abbey in London.

Harper said on Wednesday that they will represent Canada, one of the 16 realm countries in the Commonwealth, to personally convey the best wishes of all Canadians to the happy couple.

"I am delighted that Laureen and I will be able to attend this very historic and happy moment," he said in a statement.

The Prince's couple has decided to undertake a Royal Tour of Canada, their first outside Britain as newlyweds, which will take them to Alberta, the Northwest Territories, Prince Edward Island, Quebec and the National Capital Region from June 30 to July 8.

"Both events will be the source of great celebration for Canadians from coast to coast," Harper added.
