LONDON - Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton kissed from the balcony of Buckingham Palace in front of massive expectant crowds after their wedding ceremony.

The newlyweds and their close family members showed on the balcony on the first floor of Buckingham Palace about one hour after their wedding ceremony at Westminster Abbey and greeted crowds gathering and cheering outside the Palace. The new royal couple then shared a brief kiss, recapturing the famous kiss scene by Prince Chales and Princess Diana on their wedding day in 1981 and triggering the thrilled crowds to cheer even more loudly.

The Queen, the new couple and their parents, joined people in watching a RAF fly-past performance as a celebration for the historic royal wedding of Britain.

Earlier in the morning, Prince William and Kate Middleton had a 70-minute wedding ceremony at Westminster Abbey in central London and then marched back to Buckingham Palace in the open-topped State Laundau, followed by scarlet-clad troops on horseback.
