1) Embrace China PHOTOS BY NA LI / CHINA DAILY

Bolstered by an effort by Members of Parliament of Chinese descent, this spring the Canadian government will proclaim the first day of the Lunar New Year (Saturday, Jan 28) as the beginning of the 15-day Spring Festival. To celebrate the occasion, the China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese along with the Canada-China Cultural Development Association presented a Chinese variety show Embrace China on Jan 6 in Toronto. This show featured songs performed by the renowned Chinese folk singers Dong Wenhua, Chen Junhua and Zhang Yuanming, acrobatic performances by the China Acrobatic Performing Troupe, instrumental music and more.
