Lenovo JV plan lifts NEC shares

TOKYO - NEC Corp shares opened up 4.6 percent on Friday after the Nikkei business daily said the company was in final talks with China's Lenovo over a personal computer joint venture.

An NEC spokesman said nothing has been decided.

The Nikkei said Lenovo may take a majority stake in NEC Personal Products Ltd, a wholly owned NEC unit, that makes and sells personal computers.
